Former LKP leader Hong returns to law practice

Hong Joon-pyo, former leader of the main opposition Liberty Korea Party (LKP), is expected to resume his career as a lawyer.

According to the Seoul Bar Association, Hong submitted an application to reopen his law office, Tuesday. Hong resigned as LKP leader last Thursday, a day after the party suffered a crushing defeat in the June 13 local elections.

Hong began his career as a lawyer in 1995 after serving as a prosecutor for 11 years since 1984. He closed his law office in 1996 when he was elected to the National Assembly.
