By Park Si-soo

Popular K-pop girl band Nine Muses will be disbanded this month after nine years, its agency said Monday.

Star Empire said its contract with the four-member group would expire at the end of the month and it had decided not to renew it after a "long discussion with members."

The band will release its last album on Feb. 14 and hold a farewell fan meeting on Feb. 24.

"We express heartfelt gratitude to Nine Muses and tis fans that have been steadfast in supporting the band over the past nine years," Star Empire said in a statement.
