'Love is love': Korea celebrates LGBT pride

The 2019 Queer Culture Festival has started on June 1 in central Seoul which includes a queer pride parade all across the Jong-no area. The festival which promotes the rights of sexual minorities has brought a huge crowd - both advocates and religious groups fiercely against homosexuality - to the Gwanghwamun area, and will continue over the next two weeks.

The city hall was surrounded by young people chanting and dancing to the music coming out from the loud speaker with rainbow flags held on their hands, while on the other side of the road, those resisting the movement held placards that wrote, "Homosexuality is a sin. Come back to God." In case of any clashes and emergency situations, police forces were dispatched around the street where the parade was taking place.
