Six South Koreans are under investigation for trying to break into the Japanese consulate in Busan, police said Monday.
According to police, the activists ― reportedly university student among a crowd staging an anti-Japan rally outside the consulate at 2 p.m. ― tried to break in after putting anti-Japanese banners on the security wall.
Police took the six to a station for questioning.
The incident happened three days after an elderly Korean man burned to death when he set his car on fire in front of an office building in central Seoul, in which the Japanese embassy in located.
Koreans have been protesting against Japan's trade restrictions against its neighbor.
