Samsung SDI is showcasing a variety of electric vehicle (EV) batteries at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show to better target the European EV market, the company said Tuesday.

Europe's leading platform for mobility, which was opened to the media first, will officially kick off Thursday and continue through Sept. 22.

Samsung SDI's exhibition is comprised of two stories ― Core Competency and Technology Innovation ― under the theme of "Charged for Auto 2.0."

Auto 2.0, a term introduced by Goldman Sachs in 2017, refers to "the transformation of cars into electric and fully autonomous vehicles in the coming years, combined with the business model shift from car ownership to utilizing the shared economy."

The Korean battery maker said it plans to exhibit a wide range of battery cells, modules and packs, including fast-charging, high-capacity batteries for EVs that are capable of traveling about 700 kilometers on a single charge.

"In the Auto 2.0 era, it is important to manage prices, performance, safety and supply change of EV batteries," said Kim Jeong-wook, an executive vice president who heads the Strategic Marketing Office at Samsung SDI. "Samsung SDI will lead the Auto 2.0 era through consistent innovation."
