Preventing illegal residency

Vo Ngoc Anh Thu, left, the first Vietnamese student who satisfied the tightened visa requirements that came into effect Oct. 1, poses with a Woori Bank employee at Seoul Global Center in downtown Seoul, Sept. 27. The new rule requires Vietnamese students to deposit at least $10,000 into a Korean commercial bank account that allows withdrawal of 5 million won ($4,400) every six months. Woori said Wednesday she selected the bank to follow the new rule which aims to prevent illegal foreign students from overstaying their visas. / Courtesy of Woori Bank
