| The Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC) has established the 1st Helicopter Squadron at its 1st Marines Division which will mainly fly the country's MUH-1 Marineon helicopter, the ROKMC headquarters announced Monday. The founding ceremony was held at a combat training field of the 1st Division in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, last Friday. The 1st Helicopter Squadron is a new amphibious utility helicopter unit replacing two aviation units with the ROKMC's 1st Division and 2nd Division, which have been disbanded. The ROKMC is planning to activate a full aviation group in 2021 with two utility helicopter squadrons and one attack helicopter squadron. Courtesy of ROKMC |
