KCON 2020 NY k-pop concert canceled amid coronavirus

CJ ENM has canceled one of its major conventions KCON scheduled for New York on June 12-14, due to the spiraling number of coronavirus cases in the United States.

KCON USA announced the news through its social media, Friday, and said it had "decided to officially cancel KCON 2020 NY with a heavy heart."

Adding that the decision came "after consulting with government authorities, health experts and our partners," it explained that fans' safety was its highest priority.

In regards to KCON 2020 LA, slated for August 27-30, it said it is "monitoring the situation closely," and is "in constant contact with relevant authorities and partners."

KCON 2020 JAPAN, planned for April, was also canceled earlier this month.

The convention is a Korean cultural event in different locations around the world. It invites people to experience the culture in various categories, including food, K-pop, beauty and lifestyle.
