Hotel Shilla's luxury resort in Da Nang has won recognition at this year's World Travel Awards by winning the Asia's Leading Lifestyle Resort category, the country's major hotel chain said Thursday.

Shilla Monogram Quangnam Danang in Vietnam won the honor at the awards recently held in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 30th annual award has recognized the hotel's superb quality in ocean views and customer satisfaction, according to the hotel. Meziane Karim Christophe, the hotel's general manager, said he wanted to impress all visitors with memorable experiences by catering for them in detail.

The hotel started its operation in 2020 as an "upper upscale" hotel in terms of price rate. The classification follows the highest "luxury" and is followed by upscale, upper midscale, midscale and economy. With luxury hotels, upper upscale hotels are considered top 15 percentile in hotels around the world, according to Hotel Shilla.

The Korean major hotel operator said Shilla Monogram borrowed knowhow from The Shilla Jeju in Jeju Island which has been developing leisure programs for visitors for 15 years. The cooperation led Shilla Monogram to launch traditional Vietnamese handcraft classes, cooking classes and ocean leisure sports that the company said are exclusive in Da Nang.

Shilla Monogram has private beaches and four outdoor swimming pools. The hotel said the pools are Da Nang's only local outdoor resort venue with warm water, which has made them popular among patrons during winter.

As for food, the hotel runs four luxury venues. Dining M offers dishes of Eastern and Western styles as well as authentic Vietnamese menus, while visitors can also drop by at a poolside restaurant at Bistro M or spend time at Bar M at lobby lounge or Pool Bar. All the chefs at the hotel have been trained by Hotel Shilla and use local ingredients, according to the hotel.
