The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) has sent a second summons to scandal-hit football player Hwang Ui-jo to investigate an allegation that he filmed a sexual encounter with a woman without her consent, a ranking police official said Tuesday.

In the latest summons, the police asked Hwang, now playing for British club Norwich City as a forward, to appear at the SMPA by Friday to face questioning about the allegation, the official said in a media briefing, adding there has been no response yet from him.

Hwang has been under police investigation, as the alleged victim has insisted the footballer filmed her during sex without her consent. Hwang has denied the claim, saying the video was made with her consent.

If Hwang eventually fails to respond, the police will send another summons to him, the official said.

Earlier, the police sent their first summons to Hwang asking him to show up at the SMPA by Dec. 27, 2023 but he failed to comply. (Yonhap)
