Kyuhyun is set to prove his colorful musical palette with his first full-length album “COLORS," 10 years since he made his solo debut in 2014.
The new album, which will hit streaming sites at 6 p.m. Wednesday, consists of 10 tracks, including the title song “Unending Days.”
“'COLORS' is a music collection layered with Kyuhyun's diverse colors. Each track, mediated by his voice, unfolds like a prism with its unique color, captivating both visual and auditory senses of the audience,” the singer's agency Antenna said in a press release.
“It will introduce Kyuhyun's ever-changing musical palette, demonstrating his limitless spectrum as a main vocalist, ballad singer, musical actor and MC.”
The title track delicately portrays the aftermath of a painful breakup with Kyuhyun's sentimental vocals partnered with a band-based sound arrangement.
“Its music video, which will be released with the album, will feature two contrasting vibes expressing warm happiness and cold pain, and will show Kyuhyun's detailed emotional acting combined with cinematic visuals and storytelling, akin to watching a movie,” the agency said.
Along with the title song, the album has various genre tracks showcasing Kyuhyun's vocal range, including “Journey,” “Universe,” “Horizon,” “Last Poem” and “Wishes.”
The singer is taking a stab at the up-tempo dance-pop genre with “Bring It On,” a first since his debut as a soloist. He is also presenting a musical number-style song through “Nights Without You,” expressing comfort and support for a loved one, set to a dramatic arrangement.
The album is meaningfully structured with Kyuhyun's self-composed tracks at both the beginning and the end. The instrumental track “One Spring Day (Prologue)” starts off the album with its impressive piano melody and the vocal track “One Spring Day” caps it off with a minimal composition of piano, and vocals about the reminiscence of love.
Kyuhyun debuted as a member of K-pop boy group Super Junior in 2006 with the single album “U.” The singer released various hit songs with the group, including “Sorry, Sorry” (2009) “Mr. Simple” (2011)” and “Black Suit” (2017). He made his debut as a soloist in 2014 with the song “At Gwanghwamun,” successfully landing his solo career.
The artist has also been active in various fields, starring as the host in various reality shows like “Single's Inferno” and “Peak Time.” Since making his theatrical debut in 2010 with “The Three Musketeers,” Kyuhyun has also taken up lead roles in musicals like “Frankenstein” and “Ben-Hur.” He is set to play the lead in the upcoming musical “The Man Who Laughs,” based on the novel of the same name by Victor Hugo.
In celebration of his 10th solo debut anniversary, the artist will be embarking on an Asian tour, “KYUHYUN 10th Anniversary Asia Tour [COLORS],” traveling to nine different cities starting with the three-day Seoul concert on Dec. 20 through 22.
