As the year winds down, the K-pop scene is gearing up for a wave of winter-themed music releases, offering a blend of cozy, festive tunes from top K-pop artists.
BTS' V is joining hands with singer Park Hyo-shin to roll out a duet song, “Winter Ahead,” Friday.
V, who has released seasonal songs every winter like “Snow Flower” and “Christmas Tree,” suggested the collaboration to Park, known for his emotional vocals, leading them to create a new Jazz pop genre song.
The winter song will feature a warm melody and romantic lyrics, written by singer-songwriter Jesse Harris, best known for penning Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why."
“A jazz-pop duet that V and Park have carefully collaborated on over a long time reflects both of their tastes," the singer's agency BigHit Music said in the release. “Their soft and gentle vocal colors will convey warmth to listeners."
V is also set to release a remix of the hit Christmas carol, “White Christmas,” on Dec. 6, creating a duet with late legendary singer Bing Crosby.
Chungha will release a Christmas special single, “Christmas Promises,” on Dec. 3, making a comeback four months since her single “Algorithm.”
The singer announced the upcoming release, Thursday, sharing a teaser poster for the new single with two title tracks “Sleigh” and “There Goes Santa Claus!”
“Chungha plans to present an unforgettable warm memory as a gift this winter through her new album,” the singer's agency More Vision said.
Overcoming legal disputes, K-pop girl group Fifty Fifty is also joining the holiday music lineup with its first winter release, “Winter Glow,” on Dec. 9.
This is the new single being released after the group revamped itself into a five-piece act with Keena and four new members.
The upcoming single will feature two songs, “When You Say My Name” and “Naughty or Nice.”
"Although it's a single album for winter seasonal songs, it will feature two tracks with distinctly different charms, heightening anticipation for the music that Fifty Fifty will deliver," said the group's agency, ATTRAKT.
This trend extends beyond Korea as NCT Wish released its first Japanese full-length album “WISHFUL,” Wednesday, delivering a sentimental vibe in time for winter.
The new album consists of 13 songs, including the title track, "Wishful Winter." This pop ballad features prominent arpeggio piano sounds harmonizing with string melodies, evoking the sound of bell chimes.
“The song's lyrics embody NCT Wish's mission of granting wishes at Christmas, delivering winter sentiment through the members' delicate vocals,” said the group's agency, SM Entertainment.
