LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo underscored LG's founding spirit in his New Year's address on Thursday, emphasizing its enduring DNA of challenge and change established from Day 1.

Koo urged employees to remain focused on delivering essential and exceptional value to customers.

“LG was founded with the goal of providing products and services that truly meet customers' needs. The Day 1 spirit of pursuing what others would not dare embodies our DNA of embracing challenges and driving transformative change,” Koo said.

He further highlighted that LG's commitment to enhancing customers' lives has driven bold innovations, resulting in a history of firsts and bests across various fields and delivering value that elevates lives to the next level.

“Creating distinguished value for customers is no easy task. It requires stepping away from familiar ways, and it comes with worries and fear of failure,” he said. “But just as what feels familiar today was once an innovation, we haven't stopped at failure or settled for past successes. Instead, we've continued to challenge and drive change.”

He added, “With our spirit of challenge and change, we'll continue to deliver essential and exceptional value to our future customers.”

In his address, Koo also shared LG's vision for the future, which focuses on delivering transformative value to future customers.

“From AI (artificial intelligence) and smart solutions that enhance the value of customers' time and enable them to unleash their infinite potential, along with biotech and cleantech that create a healthy life and a clean planet, innovative ideas taking root across our organization will blossom into smile-worthy values for our future customers,” he said.

This year's video message also featured several LG employees who shared the distinguished value they are working to create for future customers in areas such as AI, biotechnology, cleantech and smart homes.

The video was filmed against the backdrop of Connectwin, a newly renovated common space located on the lower levels of the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul.

Unveiled earlier this year, the space's name symbolizes both the connection between the LG Twin Towers and the fostering of connections to achieve success.

Since his first New Year's message in 2019, where he emphasized “prioritizing customers as a future direction of LG,” Koo has consistently refined his message of customer value management in his annual addresses.
