The oceans ministry launched a task force Monday aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Korea's logistics industry amid global economic uncertainties.

The task force will work to promote cooperation between public and private sectors in setting up a global logistics supply chain and provide support for local companies' overseas business, according to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

"We need strong cooperation between the public and private sectors to swiftly respond to growing uncertainties in the global logistics supply chain this year," Oceans Minister Kang Do-hyung said during a ceremony marking the launch of the new task force.

Kang also met with chief executive officers of the country's major logistics companies to discuss strategies for addressing uncertainties in the global supply chain.

In the meeting, he discussed promoting collaborations between major logistics firms and support institutions, such as the Korea Ocean Business Corp. and the Busan Port Authority, according to the ministry. (Yonhap)
