The Constitutional Court's ruling on President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment trial appears to have been postponed until at least April.
While the Constitutional Court has yet to announce a ruling date for Yoon's impeachment case, it issued rulings on about 40 constitutional petitions on Thursday. The court began delivering verdicts at 10 a.m. and concluded in about 20 minutes.
The court customarily holds a monthly ruling session for general cases, typically on the last Thursday of the month. There was speculation that it might announce the ruling date for the president's impeachment case during Thursday's session, but it was not on the list.
Attention also focused on whether the court would reveal the ruling date after the session. However, the justices left the court without mentioning it.

Since concluding all hearing sessions for Yoon's case on Feb. 25, the Constitutional Court has been deliberating daily for over a month without reaching a decision.
Although the justices had previously stated they would prioritize the impeachment case, it has been sidelined while they issued rulings on other impeachment cases, including those involving the country's audit chief and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.
The court has never issued rulings three times in a single week and has no precedent in the past 30 years for doing so on consecutive days, making it is unlikely that a ruling will be issued Friday, following Monday's ruling on the prime minister and Thursday's general case rulings.
With each of the court's past presidential impeachment rulings issued on Fridays and the practice for dates to be announced two to three days in advance, the earliest possible decision date is likely April 4.

However, with reports indicating that the justices have not yet reached a consensus on key issues of the presidential impeachment trial, there is speculation that deliberations may extend into next week without a conclusion. Many observers believe the judges hold differing views and that the court has yet to secure the necessary six votes out of eight justices to uphold the impeachment.
Many within and outside the legal community anticipate the final verdict will be issued before April 18, the retirement date for acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae and Justice Lee Mi-son.
During the impeachment trial of former President Park Geun-hye in early 2017, the Constitutional Court announced its ruling just three days before then-acting Chief Justice Lee Jeong-mi's retirement.
