Singer-actor Jeong Jin-woon, 29, a member of K-pop boy band 2AM, will return to the entertainment industry after completing his mandatory military service.

Jeong's agency Mystic Story said Friday that he has decided to take the lead role in the upcoming horror-comedy film "Only I can see you" (unofficial direct translation).

"I am excited to work on this genre film," he said through the agency. "Since this is my first work since my discharge, I ask for your support."

The film, directed by Im Yong-jae, is about a movie production staff encountering a supernatural force that causes paranormal phenomena.

Jeong will play the production head, Jang-geun, who leads fellow staffers to fight off the mysterious entity.

Along with the actor, Solbin from K-pop girl group Laboum and actor Kwak Hee-sung will star in the film.

This will be his first on-screen acting role since completing his mandatory duty in the Army. He was discharged last October after serving in the military band for 19 months.

The film will hit local theaters during the first half of this year.

Jeong debuted as a member of the four-member group 2AM in 2008 with the ballad "This Song," which led the group to stardom. The group has released a string of hits, including "I Was Wrong" (2010) and "Like Crazy" (2010).

He started acting with a lead role in the teen series "Dream High 2" in 2012. He has starred in various TV series, including "Marriage, Not Dating" (2014) and did voice work for the animated film "Epic" in 2013.
