Starbucks Korea has selected the 10 best Starbucks cafes in the country to attract consumers and tourists, according to the coffee franchise company, Tuesday.

The selection from the brand's 1,870 locations nationwide shows they have more to offer than just coffees, teas and sandwiches. Drawing on the unique environment and history of each location, the selected cafes encourage visitors to take a look around and feel how each one has successfully commingled with its ambient geography or urban space.

The Bukhan River Reserved location in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, is the country's only Starbucks location that allows pets. Starting with the location, the company last month started renovating selected cafes nationwide to turn them into pet-friendly locations. The company said there have been a number of requests from customers to introduce Starbucks cafes that allow pets inside.

Built on a ground where an old theater once stood in the middle of a traditional street market in the 1960s, Gyeongdong 1960 location in Seoul's Dongdaemun District coexists with the area's former popularity as one of the city's biggest bazaars. The fame has now dwindled, with people who thrived in the era only remembering the vitality from days bygone. Gyeongdong 1960 is a tribute to the era, decorating its lounge with old vestiges. The company said an increasing number of young customers are drawn to the location's retro sentiment.

In Daegu, a hanok – a traditional Korean house – stands with a Starbucks sign on its facade. The Daegu Jongno Gotaek location has renovated a 100-year-old hanok. In Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, Chuncheon Mount Gubong Reserved location offers a breathtaking view over the city.

And it wouldn't be fair to exclude the country's No. 1 Starbucks location from the list. Ewha Womans University Reserved location in Seoul's Seodaemun District offers some exclusive beverages and heritage goods to remind visitors of the location's history. The Byeoldabang cafe in Seoul's Jung District is one of a few Starbucks shops that have large-scale artworks inside. This one has a digital art wall, with its moving fish and floating bubbles, often mesmerizing customers.

Other top Starbucks cafes include The Yangpyeong DTR location, The Mount Bukhan location, The Yeosu Dolsan DT location and The Jeju Songdang Park Reserved location.

The top 10 list was released by the Starbucks Korea YouTube channel last Wednesday.

The selection came after the company signed a partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization to promote the country as a global destination for tourists under the national campaign titled Visit Korea 2023-24.
