Dutch Ambassador to Korea Paul Menkveld awarded Orange Tulip Scholarships (OTS) to 14 Koreans at the Netherlands Education Support Office (NESO) in Seoul, Thursday.

The winners will study at 12 Dutch schools, including Erasmus University, from the fall semester.

Some students received full scholarships, while some received partial financial support for their degree programs. Others will have their living expenses paid.

Last year, the office raised 342,850 euros from 12 Dutch universities and the private sector for the 2014-2015 scholarships.

Nearly half of this was awarded to Korean students.

NESO chief representative Leo Chung encouraged prospective students to consider the Netherlands as a location for their overseas studies.

"In the Netherlands, there are more than 2,000 degree and non-degree programs that are offered in English," he said. "Compared with English-speaking countries, tuition and living expenses in the Netherlands are relatively cheaper. Nearly 80,000 students from all over the world are now studying in the country."

Chung encouraged students to take advantage of the OTS scholarship program.

Jan Arie Smit, general manager of Heineken Korea, one of the sponsors, was also at Thursday's ceremony.

NESO Korea, a non-profit group, has provided Koreans students with OTS scholarships since 2010.

The Netherlands Organization of International Cooperation in Higher Education established the NESO Seoul office in 2008.
