TmaxSoft, the country's leading software company, has agreed to supply the TIBERO-nicknamed database management system to the Suseo High-Speed Railway (SR).

The agreement comes at a time when demand for data-handling systems with greater affordability remains high from government offices and agencies.

"The TIBERO database management system (DBMS) will be used in SR's integrated information frameworks," spokeswoman Lee Ji-hye said, Monday.

She declined to unveil financial details about its agreement.

SR is an affiliate of Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL). SR handles high-speed railways linking the Suseo station in southern Seoul to major regional cities such as Busan and Mokpo.

The line, which will open from next year, will become part of the Korea Tran Express (KRX) system.

TmaxSoft won the deal on a turnkey basis, meaning that it will handle from system construction to maintenance for a certain period. Lee said the company's budget middleware products will also be used in the SR-managed systems.

"This is because KORAIL's ticketing systems are managed by Tmaxsoft's JEUS, WebtoB and TMAX solutions," Lee said.

Early this year, it agreed with the Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) to supply its managed systems for aviation telecom services, valued at about 75 billion won.

TmaxSoft said it has been in talks with local provincial cities to supply its DBMS for use in transportation information systems.
