SK hynix CEO named best-performer

SK hynix CEO Park Sung-wook was named the "best-performing" business leader among heads of the country's top 500 companies by sales, said CEO Score, a conglomerate research firm, Wednesday.


He scored 73.5 points out of 100 in the assessment of CEOs based on their companies' 2014 sales, growth rate over the past three years, return on equity, debt ratios and job creation. His score was 19.4 points higher than the average of 54.1 points, according to the agency.

SK hynix, the world's second biggest memory chip maker, showed an all-time high performance last year, posting 5.1 trillion won in operating profit, up 51 percent from a year earlier.

Kim Kyung-bae, CEO of Hyundai Glovis, came second with 72 points and Hong Ky-ttack, chairman of the Korea Development Bank, ranked third with 67 points.

The fourth ranking was shared by Yoon Jun-mo, CEO of Hyundai Wia; Kim Bong-yung, CEO of Cheil Industries' resort and construction division; and Yoon Joo-hwa, CEO of Cheil Industries' fashion division. The three scored 66.5 points.

Hyundai Mobis' Chairman Chung Mong-koo and CEO Chung Myung-chul ranked seventh with 65.5 points, followed by Samsung SDS CEO Jun Dong-soo and Halla Visteon CEO Park Yong-hwan with 63.5 points.

Coming in 11th was Jung Soo-hyun, CEO of Hyundai Engineering and Construction, and 12th was Park Jin-soo, vice chairman of LG Chem.

Those ranked from 13th to 21st were Kim Hae-seong and Lee Gap-su, co-CEOs of E-Mart; SK E&S CEO Yoo Jung-joon; Hanwha Corp. CEO Park Jae-hong; LG Uplus Vice Chairman Lee Sang-chul; Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun (in charge of integrated device systems), CEO Yoon Boo-keun and mobile chief Shin Jong-kyun; Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Mong-koo, CEO Kim Chung-ho and president Yoon Gap-han; POSCO Engineering and Construction CEO Hwang Tae-hyun; Hanwha Total senior vice president Francis Raatz; Kia Motors CEO Kim Hyeong-geun; former Daewoo International CEO Jeon Byeong-eal; and LG Innotek CEO Lee Ung-beom.

Among companies with annual sales of less than five trillion won, Park Kenny, CEO of handbag maker Simone, ranked first, followed by Johannes Thammer, CEO of Audi Volkswagen Korea, and Naver CEO Kim Sang-hun.
