Media reports Tuesday quoted an acquaintance of Kang as saying the star, 33, was surprised at the story. Kang had known Jang, 30, as a friend but was not seeing her romantically, the insider said.
Reports said Kang was dating Jang and they were interested in getting married.

Kang, whose father is Korean, was at a funeral house in Busan, South Gyeongsang Province, after the death of his French mother.
