Molly Manners Korea, a manners and etiquette institute, will hold a conference to provide opportunities for children to learn traditional etiquette and communication skills at the KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from Dec. 11-20.

"We have organized the program with the aim of bringing inspiration and positive impact in the lives of our young Koreans and foreign children," Molly Manners Korea CEO Sherlyn Kim said.

"The program will give children chances to learn global manners and effective communication skills in English," she added.

According to her, bilingual staff will help children who are not fluent in English learn manners while communicating with foreign friends during the Molly Manners International Conference.

She emphasized the importance of having good manners, citing research conducted by Harvard University and the Stanford Research Institute. According to the research, one's manners contribute to 85 percent of his or her success while technical skills account for 15 percent.

"I'm not saying technical skills are not important but children need to accumulate right manners from early ages because they cannot learn manners overnight," Kim said.

She also pointed out that companies think highly of employees' social skills.

"Employers or business will not take a risk on your bad manners," Kim said.

Founded by Molly Hayes in the U.S., Molly Manners provides interactive multinational programs with over 32 locations worldwide.

The conference is the first international manners and etiquette conference for children in Korea. It is designed for children aged four to 12.

About 2,000 delegates are expected to come, according to an official of the KINTEX.

The programs include Conversations and Small Talk Starters Activity and Neat Nelly and Messy Manner Activity in which participants can learn diverse manners through group works.

The Molly Manners' program will be part of the Korea Christmas Fair Season II which is a concurrent event held by KINTEX, one of Korea's largest convention venues.

Besides Molly Manner's program, various events and seminars will take place during the Christmas fair including a concert, an international chess competition and a Christmas cookie fair.

The events' sponsors are the Gyeonggi provincial government, Goyang City, Seoul Foreign School and Lotte Department Store.
