Star Yoo Seung-ho will appear in SBS's new thriller-melodrama "Remember – War of the Son " with Park Min-young that premiers on Dec. 9.

Yoo, who rose to stardom as a child actor in "The Way Home" in 2002, became successful in both film and television, including his appearance in the teen drama "Master of Study," suspense thriller "Blind," and romantic comedy "Operation Proposal," each in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

In his new 24-episode television series, Yoo takes the role of lawyer Seo Jin-woo, who suffers hyperthymesia, a memory syndrome in which he remembers everyday life in perfect detail, including his emotion at the times. Yoo uses this terrible condition to prove his father's innocence on false charges of murder. Jin-woo's father, Seo Jae-hyuk, acted by Jun Kwang-ryul, loses his memory due to Alzheimer's Disease.

"Hyperthymesia is not common and I expected a difficult time in playing the role of such a condition, but it was not as difficult as I thought," said Yoo during the press conference at SBS in Mok-dong, Seoul, Thursday. "It was the matter of how to let the audience know that he suffers from hyperthymesia in the scene, and I supposed that I would go into the memory room in my mind when I try to think deeply."

"Hyperthymesia can be a great talent for somebody but it is a painful condition for Jin-woo in the scene. I hope the audience can emphasize with Jin-woo's tragedy that he endures while using his extraordinary power to save his father," added Yoo.

The actor said he expects the drama to achieve a 25 to 30 percent viewing rate, which is considered almost unreachable these days.

Meanwhile, the 22-year old actor joined mandatory military service at age of 19 and got discharged on Dec. 2014, which drew praise from the public as many male Korean entertainers delay their enlistments as late as possible. Two years of service in army has been regarded as a de facto "exile" among the celebrities that renders them forgotten by the public and they are unable to revive the popularity they previously enjoyed.

The drama will be aired every Wednesday and Thursday from next week.
