Popular boy band Super Junior of S.M. Entertainment, released their eighth studio album "PLAY," Monday without member Choi Siwon.

The group originally planned to return with seven members including Choi. Choi Siwon participated in recording for the album and he appears in the music video as well as the promotional poster.

However, he decided not to join Super Junior's eighth album activity after he got embroiled in an accident where his dog bit popular restaurant owner in September. The restaurateur who owned the restaurant Hanilkwan died of blood poisoning five days after.

"Unfortunately, Choi will not be participating in our new album activity," said member Leeteuk at the press conference for their new album at the Grand InterContinental Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul. "In the last twelve years, we went through various events which made us a stronger team. This time too, other members will fill Siwon's empty spot."

Singer Kim Hee-chul also expressed his feelings about recent controversy over his post on Instagram about his worsening health.

Kim wrote that it will be hard for him to do normal activities and he has no confidence to do them. Kim has been suffering from the aftereffects of a traffic accident he was involved in 11 years ago.

Kim complained that every time he releases a new album with Super Junior, people posted malicious comments on the internet telling him to go to the army and stop causing trouble for the group.

"I hate to acknowledge but I am not as young as before and doctors told me to get consistent care with rehabilitation treatment. Super Junior is originally a team with flashy performances but they made the choreography simpler because of my worsening ankle. I had to let fans know about my situation," Heechul said.

Super Junior's eighth album is their first activity in two years after they revealed their 10th anniversary special disc in 2015.

The new album consists of 10 tracks including the title track "Black Suit."

"Now that we are in our 30s, people are concerned we might get tired from dancing hard on stage but that did not stop us from preparing a good performance," Eunhyuk said.

Seventeen releases 2nd studio album

Rookie K-pop act Seventeen also revealed their second studio album "Teen, Age" on the same day Super Junior released their eighth album.

Seventeen debuted three years ago but quickly rose to stardom and will go on a world tour for four months from July this year.

The group promises to show a more manly side as they have only shown bright and energetic charms as boys before.

"It looks like we've only walked down royal road until now, but we also had many worries about the direction the band should take. This is because we make our own songs and choreography," said the member Hoshi during the press showcase at YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, Monday.

"We heard Super Junior released an album today too. It is an honor as we grew up watching Super Junior perform on TV," member S.Coups said.
