The ex-husband of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder's South Korean fiancee Kim So-yeon is suing Schroder for having an affair with her and wrecking the marriage.

With his identity withheld, the accuser is seeking through Seoul family court 100 million won ($93,000) compensation. He said the money was for "unbearable mental pain he caused" and breaking up his marriage with Kim.

Schroder, 74, and Kim, 48, who was his interpreter, announced in January that they would marry this year. It would be his fifth marriage. He was previously married to Doris Schroder Kopf.

Kim's ex-husband claimed he had agreed with Kim to divorce after she promised she would end her relationship with Schroder. But she continued seeing Schroder and apparently never intended to keep her promise to end the affair.

The ex-husband claimed he suffered defamation when Kim told a press conference announcing her marriage with Schroder that she had already been divorced for years. She and her ex-husband divorced in November 2017.

Kopf claimed on Facebook that Schroder and Kim were having an affair that affected her breakup with Schroder.
