Park Ji-hoon, a former member of the disbanded boy band WannaOne, squeezed an acting job into his already busy schedule as a singer.
The announcement of his acting career came on the same day he released a solo album "O'CLOCK" which was to be unveiled on the music streaming website at 6 p.m.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Park's agency Maru Entertainment said, "Park Ji-hoon decided to join in JTBC's forthcoming drama "Ggotpadang: Joseon wedding workshop" which will be aired in September.
"Ggotpadang", an adaptation from a novel written by Kim Yi-rang, revolves around the same name matchmaking shop which helps a poor woman transform into a sophisticated lady upon the king's request.
Park will play "Ko Young-soo," a good-looking matchmaker and fashionista of the Joseon Kingdom.
He debuted as a child actor and appeared in several hit dramas, including "Joomong" (2007) and "Iljimae" (2008) before he joined WannaOne.
Park has been busy since the beginning of this year: he was the first former WannaOne member to open an official fan cafe to strengthen his bond with his fans. It is a subscription cafe with fans being required to pay a membership fee.
Since WannaOne disbanded in December last year, Park has been active in different fields of show business. He went on his first Asia fan-meeting tour in February and posed for multiple magazines. He also modeled for brand commercials.
Fans show high expectation for Park as the new JTBC drama is his first work as an adult actor. On the same note, all eyes are on him to see if he can successfully pull off multiple roles as a singer, actor and a model and adapt to his new role in TV from his cute boy image.
