Following Japan's decision to remove Korea from the list of preferential trade partners, some Koreans worry that a lengthy trade war between the two countries will hurt Korea's economy. Young people are particularly critical of Japan's move.

A netizen commented about Korea's alleged emotional approach, "Why do you think England and France maintain their friendship? Diplomacy is not about a country's emotion but about profits their citizens can get."

A user commented about the real impact of Japan's embargo, "Uniqlo and other brands you boycott can be seen. But the unseen, manufacturers and machinery-related businesses, will be considerably affected."
Online users in their 20s and 30s are angry at Japan.
"We have to stick together and fight against the difficulties that will come up to our way," one wrote.
Another said, "You are messing up the wrong people. I will replace all Japanese products and will continue to boycott."

There are also comments that Japan's decision was expected. One commented, "President Moon Jae-in has been saying that Japan is not our ally and now that Japan had decided to remove the credits they give to their allies."

Lastly, some perceive Japan's decision as a chance to lessen Korea's dependency on Japanese products and strengthen the investment and improvement of local companies.
