Does co-working space provider WeWork have a special bond with Korean celebrities?

The question arose after a romance rumor involving Korean actress Claudia Kim and Matthew Shampine ― the Korean-American general manager of WeWork Korea ― circulated earlier Thursday. Kim's managing company Culture Depot confirmed their relationship shortly after, saying: "The pair has recently started dating. Please support them."

This is the second time a WeWork official has fallen in love with a Korean celebrity. In 2018, the head of WeWork Labs Korea Samuel Hwang, 35, tied the knot with actress Clara, 33. WeWork Labs helps facilitate the growth of startups.

Kim, 34, whose Korean name is Kim Soo-hyun, began forging an acting career after featuring in the drama "Brain" (2011) and sitcom "Standby" (2012). She rose to international stardom thanks to blockbuster "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015). She also appeared in the Hollywood flick "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald," a spinoff of JK Rowling's hit "Harry Potter."

Shampine, 37, also known as Cha Min-geun, is a founding member of WeWork, which provides shared workspaces for enterprises. It was established in the U.S. in 2010 and entered Korea in 2016.
