Chung Jae-hong, a professional basketball player for the SK Knights, died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday night. He was 33.
It happened when Chung was at Severance Hospital in Seoul for surgery on an injured wrist. The surgery was planned for Wednesday.
According to reports, Chung fainted in his hospital room showing signs of cardiac arrest after having dinner. Medical staff performed CPR for nearly three hours but were unable to revive him. He was declared dead at 10:40 p.m.
Chung started his basketball career in 2008 at the Goyang Orions after graduating from Dongguk University. He joined the SK Knights in the 2017-18 season.
His body lies at Severance Hospital. The funeral has not yet been scheduled.
