Actor Sung Joon, now serving compulsory military service, revealed Monday he is married and has a child.
"Right before enlistment, I met the love of my life and was gearing up to get married," he said in a hand-written letter disclosed through his agency O& Entertainment. "In the midst of preparation, I learned a baby was on the way."
The actor, 29, added that he registered the marriage, but could not hold a ceremony because he had to join the army soon. Sung Joon began his obligatory military service in December 2018, and will be discharged in July.
"I recently switched to a reserve status from serving active duty so during off-hours I can stay with my wife, who had to endure everything on her own," he said. "I want to apologize to you for delivering the news belatedly, but would be more than happy if you give me an understanding."
O& said the actor's wife was not a celebrity, but did not provide details.
Sung Joon, whose real name is Bang Sung-joon, was a model before debuting as an actor in 2011. He featured in the TV series "Flower Band" (2012) and "High Society" (2015).
