Hotels have been recently rushing to launch a variety of non-face-to-face services, including takeout and delivery, in line with the social distancing campaign amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The services allow consumers to minimize direct contact with other people and reduce the risk of contamination.

Shinsegae Chosun Hotel, which runs The Westin Chosun hotels in Seoul and Busan, along with L'Escape Hotel and Four Points by Sheraton Namsan in Seoul, has begun offering more to-go options to allow customers to enjoy gourmet meals in the comfort of their own homes.

The Westin Chosun Seoul is now offering signature dishes from its restaurants for delivery, after successfully showcasing its take-out service years ago.

From Japanese cuisine to desserts, gourmet dishes made with quality ingredients, the delivery options are expected to help people enjoy high-quality food without requiring them to leave the house.

When guests make orders of more than 1,000,000 won ($820), or more than 20 meals at a time, hotel associates will deliver the food themselves. Orders of fewer than 20 meals are delivered through a motorbike delivery service and the delivery fees are charged to the guests.

Japanese restaurant Sushi Cho offers five different set menu options for delivery which range from 47,000 won to 132,000 won.

To celebrate the launch of the delivery service, Sushi Cho is offering a spring set, which includes rice-stuffed tofu pockets, futomaki roll, grilled fish and more until April 30.

Chinese restaurant Hong Yuan showcases two set menu options, while bakery Chosun Deli offers sandwiches, pasta and fruit for delivery.

L'Escape Hotel's Chinese restaurant Palais de Chine has started a drive-through service to help customers collect its appetizing offerings in a more convenient way.

Guests can place an order by visiting the restaurant or over the phone. Online ordering is also available through a reservation service provided by Naver.

"Guests can pick up their meals without leaving their cars as the restaurant's associates wearing face masks check guests' information and hand over the ordered meals in front of the revolving door of the hotel," a L'Escape Hotel official said.

The Eatery of Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Namsan has introduced six kinds of to-go boxes comprised of 12 of its dishes including its caprese salad, ham and cheese sandwich, pizza and pasta.

Guests can make an order over the phone and pick up their meals later.

The Mayfield Hotel, located in Seoul's Gangseo District, began its delivery service available for those living in adjacent areas earlier this month to allow customers to enjoy the luxury hotel's fine dining at home.

The menu items available for delivery include the Delice set offered by the hotel's bakery Cafe Delice, and a lunch box consisting of healthy Korean food provided by its Korean restaurant Bongraeheon.

The Delice set for four people consists of six dishes including shrimp avocado salad, lasagna and truffle oil scented mushroom cream pasta. A one-person set is also available.

A lunch box offered by Bongraeheon contains seasonal ingredients of spring including aster scaber.

"Ingredients used in the lunch boxes come from an organic farm supervised by our employees who specialize in eco-friendly agriculture," a Mayfield Hotel official said.

The Andaz Seoul Gangnam, a lifestyle hotel brand of Hyatt International, implemented a new "GRAB & GO" service at the restaurant JOGAKBO, March 30.

The chef prepares five menu items for the service including the Andaz burger and the chicken avocado sourdough sandwich.

The popularity of hotel automation systems has been also increasing amid high demand for contactless services.

Yanolja, the nation's leading accommodation and leisure activity booking platform, said inquiries regarding its hotel self-check-in kiosk, which was launched as the first product of Y FLUX, have more than tripled.

Y FLUX, developed by the travel tech company, is a fully integrated hotel automation system that combines Internet of Things, big data, machine learning and blockchain technology.

The self-check-in kiosk gives a great deal of efficiency for both customers and hotels, the firm said, noting that customers can significantly save time spent at check-in, as they can collect their room keys from the kiosk in less than five seconds.

Hotels can rely on the kiosk to process simple and repetitive tasks in a contactless manner so staff can spend more time providing personalized services.
