The American horror film "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It" is soaring in local box offices, topping charts for three consecutive days since its release, data showed Sunday.

Released on Thursday, the third installment in "The Conjuring" franchise garnered a total of 233,620 tickets from Thursday to Saturday, grossing over 2.35 billion won ($2.1 million), according to the data by the Korean Film Council.

Directed by Michael Chaves and inspired by the 1981 murder trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, "The Conjuring 3" revolves around a detective couple Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) who investigate a murder that may be linked to a demonic possession.

Disney's "Cruella," which premiered on May 26, attracted 109,592 moviegoers on Saturday, adding to a total gross of 5.35 billion won. The film is the live-action prequel to the 1996 remake of Disney's classic animation, "101 Dalmatians."

Meanwhile, "Fast & Furious 9: The Saga" has accumulated over 2 million ticket sales in 19 days, grossing over 19 billion won in Korea. Directed by Justin Lin, "F9" follows retired street racer Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew as they try to stop his evil younger brother Jakob (John Cena) from obtaining a device that could be used to take control of the world.

The box office battle between foreign films continues to signal the recovery of the moviegoing experience. However, homegrown summer tentpole films have not yet decided on their release dates as they remain wary of a turnaround in business conditions.
