K-pop girl group BLACKPINK is set to unveil a special film celebrating the fifth anniversary of its debut, according to the quartet's management company YG Entertainment Wednesday.

"BLACKPINK THE MOVIE" is scheduled to hit local theaters in August and will also be screened in about 100 other countries in the coming months. YG said the exact release date for each country will be announced later.

"In the flick, the four members will take a trip down memory lane," the company said in a statement. "The movie will also feature various photos of the singers as well as their special interviews."

YG added that "BLACKPINK THE MOVIE" will showcase the edited versions of the group's previous gigs, which were performed during their concerts such as "YG PALM STAGE ― 2021 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW."

In Korea, the film will be released in CJ CGV theaters. CGV, the country's largest multiplex cinema chain, will utilize special effects-studded cinema technologies ranging from "Screen X" to "4DX" to enrich the audience's experience, YG said.

"BLACKPINK THE MOVIE" is part of the group's "4+1 PROJECT," which was designed to celebrate the fifth anniversary of its debut. YG hinted that it is a "big project aiming to return the fans' love," without providing more details.

BLACKPINK, comprising Jennie, Rose, Jisoo and Lisa, debuted with the album "Square One" on August 8, 2016. Since then, the four-piece act has put out a number of hits such as "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" (2018) and "Lovesick Girls" (2021). Two members ― Jennie and Rose ― are already making waves as solo artists, while Lisa and Jisoo are gearing up for their solo debuts.

Last year, the band grabbed worldwide attention for unveiling a Netflix documentary titled, "Blackpink: Light Up the Sky," which gave fans an in-depth look at the four group members.
