The 2021 Culture Communication Forum (CCF) is slated to take place from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul, inviting cultural leaders from around the world to share their insights regarding cultural communication in the international community.

"The event will also center on the themes of fairness and the COVID-19 pandemic," the forum's organizer, the Corea Image Communication Institute (CICI), said Tuesday, adding that the panelists joining from abroad will speak via video call.

France's Secretary of State for Digital Cedric O will give a congratulatory address on Aug. 31, and Dinesh Patnaik, the director general of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, will make closing remarks on Sept. 1. A keynote speech will be delivered by Generation Equality Forum Secretary General Delphine O, who won CICI's Korea Image Stepping Stone Bridge Award last year for "being a bridge between Korea and the world."

On Aug. 31, cultural leaders in Europe, such as Beppe Severgnini, an editor at Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, will have in-depth discussions with panelists based in Korea, which include German Ambassador Michael Reiffenstuel, Mexican Ambassador Bruno Figueroa and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) President Lee Kwang-hyung.

On Sept. 1, experts in America are set to take part in the event. Among them are Mark Lippert, former U.S. ambassador and current Asia-Pacific policy chief of YouTube, and Canadian filmmaker Scott Miller Berry. In Korea, Singaporean Ambassador Eric Teo, Mexican Ambassador Bruno Figueroa and former U.N. Under-Secretary-General Kim Won-soo will join the event.

Launched in 2011, the CCF is an annual conference where cultural leaders across the globe explore ways to promote cultural exchange and development. The event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and CICI.
