Crypto moguls share blockchain outlook at Asia's largest fair
가상화폐 거물, 아시아 최대 행사에서 전망 나눠

Cryptocurrency moguls here and abroad shared their vision on blockchain technology during Asia's largest fair which kicked off its two-day run in Seoul, Monday.
서울에서 이틀 동안 개최되는 아시아 최대 규모의 행사 코리아블록체인위크 2022에서 월요일 국내외 가상화폐 거물들이 블록체인 기술에 대한 자신들의 전망을 공유했다.
The Korea Blockchain Week 2022, co-hosted by FactBlock and Hashed, is an annual event that has taken place since 2018. For this year, a group of crypto magnates, such as Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, joined the fair and expressed their ideas on the future of blockchain.
팩트블록과 해시드가 공동 주최하는 코리아블록체인위크 2022는 2018년부터 매년 개최되는 행사다. 올해는 비탈릭 부테린 이더리운 창시자, 장펑자오 바이낸스 CEO 등 여러 가상화폐 거물들이 행사에 참여해 블록체인의 미래에 대한 본인의 생각을 전달했다.
Leaders and officials from game, venture capital firms and blockchain-centered platform operators ― such as non-fungible tokens (NFT) ― brought up a broad range of topics on the next big things regarding blockchain.
게임, 벤처 금융 업계 대표들과 관계자를 비롯해 대체 불가능한 토큰(NFT)과 같은 블록체인 중심 플랫폼 운영자들은 블록체인에 관한 차세대 대업에 대해 광범위한 주제로 논의했다.
The Ethereum blockchain founder delivered a keynote speech and shared its next mainstream growth strategy. He expects more people to make payments with Ethereum in their daily lives within the next two to three years.
이더리움 블록체인 창시자는 기조연설자로 나서 이더리움의 주요 성장 전략을 공유했다. 그는 2-3년 내에 사람들이 이더리움을 실제 결제 수단으로 쓸 수 있게 될 것이라고 예측했다.
Ethereum is in the final phase of an upgrade known as "the Merge" through which it will change its system into a more environment-friendly proof-of-stake mechanism.
이더리움은 지분 증명 방식을 환경 친화적으로 바꾸는 것으로 알려진 업그레이드 ‘더 머지(The Merge)'의 마지막 단계에 있다.
"Your accounts can be much smarter (after the Merge upgrade scheduled in September)," Buterin, who last visited Korea three years ago, said during the event. Ethereum Foundation has laid out a plan for the Merge to be soft launched by Sept. 19.
3년 전 한국을 방문한 부테린은 행사에서 "(9월 예정된 머지 업그레이드 이후) 당신의 계좌는 훨씬 더 영리해질 것"이라고 전했다. 이더리움 재단은 9월 19일 업데이트 계획을 설계했다.
The Ethereum founder also expected its transactional commission to drop by a huge margin after the much-anticipated system upgrade.
또 이더리움 창시자는 많은 기대를 모은 시스템 업그레이드 이후 거래 수수료가 큰 폭으로 떨어질 것이라고 예상했다.
This will improve the expandability of Ethereum, and allow more people to make payments with the cryptocurrency in their daily lives, he stressed.
부테린은 이 업그레이드가 이더리움의 확장성을 개선해 더 많은 사람들이 일상 생활 속에서 가상화폐를 통한 거래가 가능해질 것이라고 주장했다.
Buterin's speech was followed by Klaytn Foundation leader Seo Sang-min who discussed the technology layer of the future metaverse world.
부테린의 기조연설 이후 서상민 클레이튼재단 이사장은 미래 메타버스 세계의 기술적 기반에 대해 논의했다.
A group of blockchain industry leaders and partners at Hashed also delivered their viewpoint on how blockchain-centered tech paradigms will reshape the world of finance in the Web 3.0 era.
여러 블록체인 업계 대표들과 해시드의 동업자들도 웹 3.0 시대에 블록체인을 중심으로 하는 기술 패러다임이 세계의 금융 형태를 어떻게 바꿀지에 대한 자신들의 관점을 전달했다.
Korea's ranking government officials pledged to join hands with the industry for the nation's leap forward in digital finance.
정부 고위 관리들도 국내 디지털 금융의 도약을 위해 업계와 힘을 합치겠다고 약속했다.
"We cannot improve the city's standing and competitiveness without the digital finance business," Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said. "The city government is mapping out multilateral policies to attract more international financial institutions. State-of-the-art technologies based on digitalization and data will reshape our daily lives. We will gain insight from blockchain week, and use it as a crucial momentum for the city's growth in digital finance."
오세훈 서울시장은 "디지털 금융 사업을 제외하고 도시의 지위와 경쟁력을 향상시킬 수 없다"고 전했다. 그는 "국제 금융 기관들을 서울로 유치하기 위해 다각도로 정책을 수립하는 중이다. 디지털과 데이터를 기반으로 한 첨단 기술은 우리 생활 전반을 변화시킬 것이다. 행사를 통해 통찰력을 얻어 디지털 금융 측면에서 도시의 성장을 위한 중요한 동력으로 활용하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
