The Seoul Metropolitan Government is gearing up to unveil its first-ever real-time translation service, which will be available in 11 languages, aiming to make life more convenient for tourists visiting the city.
서울시는 서울을 방문한 관광객의 편의를 목적으로 11개국 언어로 제공되는 실시간 번역 서비스를 공개하기 위해 만반의 준비 중이다.

The 11 languages are Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Arabic, Russian, Spanish, French and English.
제공 언어는 중국어, 일본어, 태국어, 베트남어, 말레이시아어, 인도네시아어, 아랍어, 러시아어, 스페인어, 프랑스어 그리고 영어 등 11개다.

In collaboration with Flitto, a crowdsourcing translation platform, the city has developed this translation service as part of a project to foster innovation in startups. Flitto offers various services related to language data construction, refinement and business translation for artificial intelligence (AI) learning.
크라우드소싱 번역 플랫폼인 ‘플리토'와 협력한 서울시는 스타트업 내 혁신을 조성하기 위한 프로젝트의 일환으로 이번 번역 서비스를 개발했다. 플리토는 언어 데이터 구축 및 개선과 인공지능 학습을 위한 사업 번역과 관련된 여러 서비스를 제공한다.

The real-time translation service will be introduced at the Gwanghwamun Tourist Information Center and Seoul Tourism Plaza from next Monday to Dec. 31. Following this pilot project, the service will be expanded further.
실시간 번역 서비스는 광화문 관광안내소와 서울관광플라자에 다음주 월요일부터 도입돼 12월 31일까지 운영된다. 이번 시범 운영 이후, 해당 서비스는 더욱 확대될 예정이다.

The service facilitates real-time conversations in different languages using an AI translation engine and digital technology that converts voice into text.
번역 서비스는 인공지능 번역 엔진과 음성을 문자로 변환해주는 디지털 기술을 활용해 여러 언어간의 실시간 대화를 용이하게 한다.

When a tourist asks questions in their native language, a transparent monitor will instantly translate and display the text in Korean for the staff at the tourist information desk. The process works the other way around too.
관광객이 모국어로 질문을 하면, 투명한 화면이 즉시 번역해 관광안내소 직원에게 한국어 텍스트를 보여준다. 이 과정은 반대로도 작동한다.
