Actor Lee Sun-kyun of the Oscar-winning "Parasite" returned home early Sunday morning after 19 hours of police questioning over his alleged drug use.

"I feel like it is a bit too late, but I've finished the questioning by the police about the blackmail case," the actor said, emerging from the office. "I hope the police wisely determine which statements are more reliable between mine and the blackmailers.'"

On the drug use suspicions, the 48-year-old actor reiterated his previous comments that he "honestly" answered related questions, without elaborating.

Lee arrived at an office of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency in Incheon, about 30 kilometers west of Seoul, on Saturday morning with his lawyer. A police investigation cannot take place from 9 p.m. till 6 a.m. to safeguard human rights, but the police said they received consent from the actor for an overnight investigation.

Lee is suspected of using marijuana and other illegal drugs at the home of a hostess working at a high-end bar in Seoul's Gangnam district on multiple occasions since early this year.

He was previously questioned twice, on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, on the same case. The overnight questioning of Lee will be the last, the police said.

In October, Lee filed a complaint against two people, including the hostess, for blackmailing him after news reports surfaced about his alleged drug use. The hostess was arrested last month, and the police are said to have sought an arrest warrant for the other person.

The actor claimed he was tricked by the hostess into taking the drugs, and that he did not know what he was taking.

Lee tested negative in both the brief reagent test conducted during police investigations and the elaborate drug test by the National Forensic Service last month. (Yonhap)
