The New Year is finally on the horizon. In the Oriental zodiac, this is the year of the Blue Dragon. The Blue Dragon symbolizes good fortune and power, the image of which was used mainly in palaces for kings and emperors. Now it also represents presidential power in Korea.

새해가 마침내 가까워졌다. 동양의 황도 12궁에 따르면 2024년은 ‘청룡의 해'다. 청룡은 왕이나 황제가 사는 궁전에 주로 사용된 이미지로 행운과 힘을 상징한다. 현재 청룡은 한국 대통령의 권력을 상징한다.


A dragon dream is considered as the most powerful and auspicious vision. We wish the Republic of Korea to leap forward this year as if it is flying high into the sky like the dragon beyond the huge challenges that lay ahead.

용꿈은 가장 강력하고 조짐이 상서로운 미래상으로 여겨진다. 대한민국이 직면한 도전 과제들을 넘어서 올해 용처럼 하늘로 날아오르길 바란다.


Despite such expectations, the looming tasks seem pressing and crucial, requiring us to be fully ready to brace for them. If not, we may face a serious debacle.

이러한 기대에도 드리우는 과업들은 긴박하고 중대해 우리에겐 만반의 준비가 필요하다. 준비 없이 대한민국은 심각한 낭패에 직면할 지도 모른다.


The first and foremost challenge lying ahead for Korea Inc. is the forthcoming general elections slated for April 10.

The ruling and opposition parties have already begun life-or-death bouts in the lead up to the parliamentary polls. For President Yoon Suk Yeol, the election in April is all the more significant as it will largely determine his political fate.

여야는 국회의원 선거를 준비하면서 사활이 걸린 시합을 이미 시작했다. 4월 총선은 윤석열 대통령에게 자신의 정치적 운명을 크게 좌우할 사안이기에 더욱 중요하다.
