David Kim recently 1) dropped by a Tim Hortons store in southern Seoul to get a taste of its black coffee with cream and sugar that he 2) used to enjoy back when he was studying in Toronto.

최근 데이비드 김은 토론토 유학 시 즐겨 마시 2)곤 하던 크림과 설탕을 추가한 블랙커피 맛을 보기 위해 서울 팀홀튼 매장에 1) 들렀다.


As a student, money was always a concern, and Tim Hortons was his favorite cafe because of its 3) affordable prices and great access thanks to the franchise's numerous chains throughout the city and the rest of Canada.

학생으로서 돈이 항상 걱정이었기에 3) 저렴한 가격, 토론토 및 그밖 캐나다 전 지역에 고루 분포한 접근성 때문에 팀홀튼은 그가 가장 좋아하는 카페였다.


Stepping inside Korea's first Tim Hortons that opened last month, however, he 4) scanned the menu and was 5) disheartened to see that everything was way more expensive than he remembered.

그러나 지난달 한국 첫 팀홀튼 매장에서 메뉴를 4) 훑어본 김 씨는 모든 메뉴가 기억보다 훨씬 비싼 걸 보고 5) 낙심했다.


A medium-size cup of black coffee was 3,900 won ($3.97 Canadian). The same is sold in Canada for $1.83.

보통 크기의 블랙 커피 한 잔은 3900원(3.97 캐나다 달러)이었다. 캐나다에서는 같은 음료가 1.83 달러에 팔린다.


"I was hugely disappointed," said Kim who expected prices similar to Canada's. "If Tim Hortons in Canada sold their double-double and French Vanilla at the same prices as here in Seoul, I would have never gone there and neither would 6) local 7) patrons there."

캐나다에서와 유사한 가격을 예상했던 김 씨는 "크게 실망했다"며 "팀홀튼이 캐나다에서 더블더블과 프렌치 바닐라를 지금 서울 가격으로 판매했다면 절대 안 갔을 거고 6) 현지(의) 7) 고객들도 그건 마찬가지일 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
