LG Electronics showcased artworks that show communication and empathy between humans and AI technology using OLED TVs at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, attempting to fuse cutting-edge digital technology and art, the company said Tuesday.

Three new art pieces created by world-renowned AI artist Stephanie Dinkins were unveiled at the museum's "Late Shift x Stephanie Dinkins" exhibition on Jan. 25 using LG's OLED screen.

Dinkins is known for utilizing the latest digital technologies such as AI, AR and VR in her art. The artist was also selected as the first recipient of the LG Guggenheim Award given to artists who showcase innovative works using technology. The award, launched last year, is jointly presented by LG and the Guggenheim Museum.

LG Electronics said its LG OLED Evo TV was utilized as a communication channel for this exhibition based on its generative AI technology.

"In the exhibition, the audience conveys their thoughts on the theme of 'the stories we tell machines' through a microphone, and the AI responds through the screen of the OLED TV," the company explained.

In addition, in one corner of the exhibition hall, art pieces drawn by AI were vividly presented in OLED quality.

"I am excited to have activated the Guggenheim's rotunda as a machine learning laboratory, sharing works in progress that highlight the imperative," Dinkins said. "These works in progress inform AI systems with a broad spectrum of ideas, wisdoms, cultural touch points and stories that have sustained our communities for millennia."

"It's a significant achievement that the works of an artist who received sponsorship from the LG Guggenheim Award is exhibited at the Guggenheim," an LG spokesperson said.

"Through the partnership, we plan to continue presenting meaningful activities that can resonate with society."
