April will bring an array of different new series content, from a legendary series' return to a popular Japanese manga adaptation, as well as a romantic comedy.

Netflix is releasing its new original series, "Parasyte: The Grey," a live-action adaptation of the Japanese sci-fi manga series "Parasyte" by Hitoshi Iwaaki.

The thriller horror series, scheduled to hit the streaming platform on April 5, revolves around a girl, Su-in (Jeon So-nee) who gets infected by an unidentified parasite that lives off humans and comes to terms with having to live with it.

When the parasitic life forms rise to power, violently taking over human hosts, Su-in comes together with Kang-woo (Koo Kyo-hwan), who learns about the parasites while finding his missing sister, to uncover the true intentions of the parasites.

The series was created by director Yeon Sang-ho who is known for leading the apocalyptic film "Train to Busan" (2016) and the Netflix series "Hellbound" (2021).

Korea's beloved detective series, "Chief Detective," which ran for 18 years, starting in 1971, will be returning with a prequel series, "Chief Detective 1958."

Set in the late 1950s, the new series, which will commence airing on April 19, will follow the early career of the original series' protagonist, Detective Park Young-han (Lee Je-hoon). Park is confident and has good detective instincts. He is transferred to a police station in Seoul from a suburban area. When he learns of the corruption within the law enforcement agency, he teams up with fellow detectives, including hot-tempered Kim Sang-soon (Lee Dong-hwi), to bring those responsible to justice and become a true detective.

This will be a series directorial debut for filmmaker Kim Sung-hoon, whose previous works include the films, "Confidential Assignment" (2017) and "Rampant" (2018).

Disney+ will be rolling out a new original title, "Blood Free," scripted by popular writer Lee Su-yeon, who is known for the hit thriller series "Stranger."

The sci-fi thriller series, slated for April 10, revolves around biotech company CEO, Yoon Ja-yu (Han Hyo-joo) who commercialized lab-grown meat. Despite her high-profile life, she constantly lives under threat from those who are against the business.

She hires a personal bodyguard, Woo Chae-woon (Ju Ji-hoon), a former soldier who approaches her with a concealed motive. When she and Woo get caught up in a series of mysterious deaths, the two come together to find who is behind it all and uncover the truth behind a conspiracy.

The series is directed by Park Chul-hwan, who previously led the Disney+ original series "Grid" (2022).

TvN will be debuting a new rom-com series "Lovely Runner," which will go on air on April 8.

Based on the web novel of the same name, the new series is about a girl, Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon), who has been an ardent fan of top star Ryu Sun-jae (Byeon Woo-seok). After an accident that paralyzed her from the waist down, she found hope in life through Ryu's voice on the radio. Since then she has been fangirling over the star for years until she hears the news that Ryu died.

Ryu, who started out as a vocalist of a band, became a top star expanding his career as an actor with hit projects. He dedicated his life to his entertainment career but one day, finds himself feeling burned out and exhausted. When he decides to retire after one last concert, he passes away suddenly.

While deeply saddened by Ryu's abrupt death, Im mysteriously slips through time, waking up in the year 2008 when she was a 19-year-old. There, she meets a 19-year-old version of her favorite star and takes the chance to save Ryu from his tragic future.

The series is scripted by Lee Si-eun, who is known for writing the rom-com series "True Beauty" (2020).
