BTS member Jungkook, known for his passion for cooking, is putting his culinary skills to good use as a cook in the military. This has sparked renewed interest among fans in his past recipes, affectionately known as "JK Recipes."

Fans on social media said his military service as a cook "suits him perfectly" and now "his talent will shine."

The 27-year-old singer, enlisted in December along with another member Jimin, recently said on the fan community platform Weverse, "I'm doing well. I've been working out a lot, too. I'm doing a great job cleaning up to the ceiling," and added, "I'm cooking well, too." The industry sources confirmed Tuesday that he was assigned as a cook following the boot camp.

Fans regard the news as aligning with Jungkook's past passion for cooking, with many saying, "No wonder." The singer has previously shared his own creative recipes, including "Buldak mayo perilla oil makguksu," ramen porridge, "Bulguri" and cup noodle fried rice, through various channels, including Weverse and his personal broadcasts.

One fan on X, formerly Twitter, said, "I am so jealous right now. I bet they are eating so good!" (@Christymgic), and another fan said, "So proud of you. Perilla oil makguksu recipe is so good! Super addictive, I make it all the time now." (@ariabelles8)

In order to feel connected with the singer in the military, fans are trying out his recipes. One of Jungkook's most popular recipes is the Bulguri, a combination of two Korean spicy noodle brands: Samyang's Buldak ramen (spicy chicken flavor noodles) and Nongshim's Neoguri (spicy seafood flavor noodles).

According to the recipe, posted on Weverse in April last year, people should heat 650 to 680 milliliters of water in a pan and add the entire Buldak sauce from Buldak ramen, half of Neoguri seasoning powder and the whole Neoguri seafood flakes when the water is warm. Once the water boils, both noodles should be added and left to boil for 4 to 5 minutes before adding Buldak ramen flakes and perilla oil for extra flavor. U.S. music magazine Rolling Stone covered his Bulguri recipe as well.

Jungkook's other popular recipe is Buldak mayo perilla oil makguksu, where typical perilla oil makguksu (buckwheat noodles) gets a spicy twist. The umami of perilla oil neutralizes the spiciness of the Buldak sauce, while the mayonnaise adds a creamy texture. His "cup noodle fried rice" recipe is also very simple but tasty. Once Ottogi's cup noodles are cooked according to the package, they are put together with scrambled eggs and cooked rice in a pan. Then, stir-fry everything together until the ingredients are well mixed and heated thoroughly. Seaweed flakes can be added to amp up the flavor.
