The Seoul branch of J.P. Morgan Securities appointed Ha Jin-soo as co-branch manager, the brokerage arm of the U.S. investment bank said Wednesday.

Ha, the current head of Equity Capital Markets (ECM) for Korea, is the first woman to lead the branch alongside Park Tae-jin, the current branch manager and chairman of J.P. Morgan Korea.

She will ensure the effective operation of the branch according to the requirements of the local financial authorities, the firm said.

J.P. Morgan Korea Senior Country Officer Howard Kim said Ha is expected to bring a wealth of experience and insights to the role.

"We are confident that she will continue to fortify our position in the Korean market with global significance, Kim said.

Ha said it is vital that J.P. Morgan, a global financial leader, brings expertise and its network to clients.

"I'm excited to be a part of the firm's continued efforts in strengthening our capabilities for enhanced client service in Korea and overseas."

Ha joined the Seoul branch as head of ECM for Korea in 2019. She is a top deal maker with extensive experience in handling one of the largest and most complex ECM transactions in Korea.
