An "antenna" shop, dedicated to showcasing local products, named Tripzip, is set to open in Myeong-dong, central Seoul, on Monday.

The shop will offer visitors information about local travel options and the opportunity to purchase regional products, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said.

Tripzip, which means a place where individuals can experience local tourism and cultural offerings simultaneously, aims to foster coexistence with the region by providing information on tourism beyond Seoul.

With the shop, the city government aims to understand trends among visitors and attract potential consumers.

Comprehensive local tourism information covering five regions — Gangwon Province, North Chungcheong Province, South Jeolla Province, North Gyeongsang Province and Andong — will be offered at the shop.

Spanning approximately 230 square meters, the shop will operate year-round from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., comprising a promotion zone, media zone, experience zone and information desk.

In the promotion zone, key tourism attractions such as major festivals and popular spots will be highlighted. Seasonal souvenirs and specialties from local areas will also be showcased. Direct purchase of these products on-site is available, and guidance will also be provided to sales locations.

A media wall in the media zone will display promotional videos showcasing regional tourist attractions and festivals.

The experience zone will offer cultural activities with based on local tourism products, such as cotton card-making, renowned in Andong, and woodblock printing programs from the Confucian Culture Museum in North Gyeongsang Province. Visitors can also taste local food and beverages.

Moreover, the information desk at the shop will offer help for tourists who are unfamiliar with travel in Korea. Guides proficient in English, Japanese and Chinese will provide one-on-one consultation, helping tourists design itineraries tailored to their preferences and schedules.

The city government expects the shop will help bring tourists to destinations outside Seoul. It also plans to operate pop-up stores featuring local cafes, where visitors can enjoy unique foods and beverages exclusive to each region.

Kim Young-hwan, the director general of the Tourism and Sports Bureau at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, said that there are many attractive local tourist destinations outside Seoul despite the city's reputation as the most famous tourist destination in Korea among tourists.

"We hope that Tripzip will increase interest in local tourism and foster a culture of coexistence between Seoul and the regions in the tourism sector," he said.
