Stock-rich Koreans in K-pop, TV show, movie and other creative content industries were hit with a nearly 20 percent fall in their stock values combined, data showed Thursday.

The corporate tracker Korea CXO Institute's data showed that 30 stockholders in the country's content industries hold respective stocks worth more than 10 billion won ($7.29 million) as of May 2.

The number of those in the so-called 10-billion-won club was down from 34 in Korea CXO Institute's previous data in December 2023.

The aggregate stock valuation of the top 30 stock-rich individuals also shrank by 18.2 percent over the cited period, falling from 4.7 trillion won to 3.84 trillion won.

The 30 individuals included Bang Si-hyuk, the chairman of K-pop powerhouse HYBE and the man behind global K-pop sensation BTS.

Bang was the richest of all 30, as the value of his stocks accounted for 68.4 percent of the 3.84 trillion won.

Nevertheless, he experienced a fall in his stock valuation, which sank from 3.17 trillion early this year to 2.63 trillion won as of May 2.

Market observers assessed Bang's loss as being linked to the management feud between HYBE and its subsidiary Ador.

The dispute intensified following Ador CEO Min Hee-jin's revelations in late April about Bang's management style.

Also an iconic figure in the K-pop industry, Park Jin-young of JYP Entertainment was ranked second on the list of 30.

Park's stocks were valued at 544.7 billion won in late December but they lost 33.2 percent in value through May 2.

Another high-profile K-pop creator, Yang Hyun-suk of YG Entertainment saw a slight increase in his stock valuation, rising 2.8 percent to 154 billion won.

The club of 30 stock-rich individuals also included CJ Group Chairman Lee Jay-hyun and all seven members of BTS.
