Action and comedy genre series, from Disney+'s Star Wars spinoff to "Parasite" actor Lee Jung-eun's fantasy comedy, will fill the small screen this June.

Disney+ is finally set to roll out its much-anticipated original title "The Acolyte," which created a buzz with the casting of actor Lee Jung-jae of "Squid Game" fame as one of its lead actors.

The latest addition to the Star Wars franchise, set to premiere June 5, will be set at the end of the High Republic era, about 100 years before "Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace" (1999), the first film of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The story follows former Padawan (apprentice) Mae (Amandla Stenberg) reuniting with her Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), to investigate a series of crimes. But as more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path and confront forces more sinister than they ever anticipated.

The eight-part sci-fi series is scripted and led by Leslye Headland, whose previous work includes Netflix's comedy series "Russian Doll."

TvN's crime action series "Player" is premiering its second season on June 3. The series, which aired its first season in 2018, follows a group of talented people, called "The Players," from different walks of life teaming up to help a prosecutor locate valuable objects from criminal organizations.

The upcoming series, "The Player 2: Master of Swindlers," will pick up on the group, led by good-looking smooth-talker Kang Ha-ri (Song Seung-heon), once again using their talents to take down criminals.

The Players take on a job to investigate the illegal activities of a global company in Korea, but when the job's just about to succeed, one of the players is killed by the company's head. While taking on different assignments, the team plots revenge against the criminal executive.

The new season is directed by So Jae-hyun, who previously directed the 2023 series "Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon."

On the lighter side, JTBC will introduce "Miss Night and Day," a rom-com starring Lee Jung-eun, best known for her role as the housekeeper in "Parasite," and Jung Eun-ji from Apink.

The fantasy comedy series, which is set to be released later next month, will revolve around a young unemployed woman, Lee Mi-jin (Jung), who has been studying for eight years for the national exam to become a civil servant. One day, a mysterious phenomenon occurs, turning her into a 50-year-old woman (Lee) during the daytime.

Using her quick wit, she manages to get a job as a senior intern with her older-looking appearance, while returning to her 28-year-old self at night to continue working toward her dream. Amid her chaotic life, she crosses paths with a prosecutor at the narcotics unit, Gye Ji-woong (played by actor Choi Jin-hyuk).

Another rom-com series, "DNA Lover," starring Choi Si-won and Jung In-sun, is also slated to come out in late June.

TV Chosun's upcoming series will follow a romance story between a genetic researcher, Han So-jin (Jung), and obstetrician-gynecologist Shim Yeon-woo (Choi). Han has been unfortunate in love, having a series of failed relationships.

Despite the failed relationships, she believes in fate and decides to find the love of her life using her expertise in genetics. Meanwhile, Shim is rather cynical towards fateful love and doesn't believe in marriage. He keeps a distance from his lovers and is willing to ruthlessly break a relationship if it gets too intimate. But when Han comes into his life, he meets unexpected changes.

The series is helmed by Sung Chi-uk, whose previous work includes the 2020 thriller series "Kairos" and the 2022 drama series "Tomorrow."
