Alcohol poisoning was what caused singer Park Bo-ram's sudden death at the age of 30 last month, an autopsy report showed Thursday.
According to the final autopsy result released by the National Forensic Service, Park died of "acute alcohol intoxication," a condition that occurs as a result of consuming too much alcohol in a short period of time, police said.
The star was found unconscious in the bathroom inside her friend's residence in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, on April 11. Two women, who were also at the house, were shocked to find Park in such a concerning state and called 119. However, she was declared dead soon afterward at a nearby hospital.
No signs of foul play or suicide were found. She and the two others shared just one bottle of soju that night, according to investigators. To determine the exact cause of her death, police asked the forensic agency to conduct an autopsy.
According to the result, Park had medical conditions such as liver lesions, abnormal cells or tissues, and a fatty liver. No other possible causes of death were found.
Reportedly, her father also had issues with his liver. He died in 2010 of cirrhosis, a condition in which the liver is scarred and permanently damaged.
Park rose to fame after competing on Mnet's audition show "Super Star K2 (2010)," in which she made it to the final 11 list. She made her debut in 2014 with the single "Beautiful" and stayed active until the incident.
