Japanese sex workers on tourist visas handed over to immigration
By KTimes

Two men have been indicted for hiring over 80 Japanese women, including adult film actors, to arrange prostitution services in South Korea, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The prosecution said Tuesday it detained and indicted Yoon, in his 30s, the actual owner, and Park, also in his 30s, the manager, both on charges of arranging prostitution.

The investigation revealed that these individuals, both Korean nationals, posted advertisements titled "Girls from the Land of the Rising Sun" on prostitution websites, facilitating the entry of dozens of Japanese women into South Korea to engage in prostitution.

The women provided sexual services to customers in hotels across Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.

Japanese adult film actors reportedly received between 1.3 million ($940) and 2.5 million won per client.

To recover approximately 300 million won of criminal proceeds obtained from operating these illegal businesses, the prosecution has taken steps to confiscate the suspects' assets, including rental deposits and vehicles.

"We will ensure that punishments commensurate with the gravity of the crimes are imposed and that criminal proceeds are confiscated and forfeited. We will continue to respond sternly to crimes related to the arrangement of prostitution," said an official from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.

Police have also handed over the Japanese sex workers to the immigration office, as it was found that they entered the country under the false pretense of tourism.
