South Korea picked up two gold medals at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, raising its total to nine as archer Lim Si-hyeon completed her hat trick of gold medals.

Lim defeated teammate Nam Su-hyeon 7-3 in the first all-South Korean final in the women's archery individual event in 20 years. A third South Korean archer, Jeon Hun-young, finished in fourth place, narrowly missing out on a third South Korean podium sweep in women's archery, after 1988 and 2000.

Lim, who had earlier won gold medals in the women's team and the mixed team events, became the first triple gold medalist for South Korea in Paris.

Earlier Saturday, Yang Ji-in was on target for the gold medal in the women's 25-meter pistol event for South Korea's third shooting title of this Olympics.

Yang defeated Camille Jedrzejewski of France 4-1 in a shoot-off, after the two finished their 10 series of shots tied at 37-37.

South Korea managed just one medal, a silver, in shooting at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, but has claimed three gold and two silver medals in France so far.

All nine South Korean gold medals have come from archery, shooting and fencing.

The women's sabre team tried to add another from fencing Saturday, but the team of Jeon Ha-young, Jeon Eun-hye and Choi Se-bin, with Yoon Ji-su as an alternate, lost to Ukraine 45-42 in the gold medal match.

South Korea led 40-37 entering the ninth and final bout, but Olga Kharlan outscored Jeon Ha-young 8-2 for the Ukraine rally.

In judo, South Korea edged out Germany for the mixed team bronze medal, its first medal in the young event that made its Olympic debut three years ago.

With the score tied at 3-3, An Baul defeated Igor Wandtke in the do-or-die seventh match when the German was slapped with his third and final "shido," or warning, for non-combativity.

South Korea finished the judo competition with two silver medals and three bronze medals.

Also on Saturday, An Se-young, the world's top-ranked female shuttler, reached the semifinals of the women's singles by beating Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 2-1 (15-21, 21-17, 21-8).

In artistic gymnastics, Yeo Seo-jeong finished seventh in the women's vault final, failing to grab her second straight medal after winning bronze three years ago. Yeo later revealed that she had dislocated her right shoulder during a training session about two hours prior to the final. (Yonhap)
