Genesis BBQ is attracting customers with its own version of Oktoberfest, the major fried chicken franchise announced Monday.

Inspired by the globally renowned Munich Oktoberfest, which ran from September to early October, the event aims to capture the original spirit of the beer festival. To enhance the experience, the company has introduced new flavors to its dishes and decorated the venue in a festive style.

The event, running from Sept. 21 to Oct. 31, is held at BBQ Village Songnidan-gil, located near Seokchon Lake in Songpa District, a popular area known for its restaurants and cafes.

The Oktoberfest Platter, a signature offering for the event, comprises authentic German dishes including brathendl (roasted chicken), bratwurst (pork, beef and veal sausages), sauerkraut (fermented cabbage) and kartoffelsuppe (potato soup). German beer brand Paulaner adds to the seasonal selections of the restaurant.

Genesis BBQ said that the event aims to make visitors feel as if they are in Munich. The company also highlighted that the event coincides with the growing global interest in Korean cuisine, including fried chicken, which is popular not only in Korea but also among its overseas franchises in Germany and 56 other countries.

"To live up to our motto ‘best of the best quality' (which is) in our company name, our Oktoberfest in Seoul offers food and joy to all visitors without them having to fly to Germany to enjoy the festival," a company official said.

Some 20 influencers on YouTube and other social media platforms have already nudged millions of followers to the event, the company said.
